The short version
- Monica: A crypto off-ramp built for speed, with 0% fees and a dollar card.
- Nosh: Crypto plus the gift card trade Monica doesn't do, in Nigeria and Ghana.
Why people compare Monica with other apps
Most people looking at alternatives have hit one of three situations.
- They have gift cards too: Monica sells gift cards to you, but it doesn't buy the one sitting in your drawer.
- Naira only: Monica pays into Nigerian banks. There is no Cedis payout for users in Ghana.
- The network fee surprised them: Conversion is free, but the on-chain fee on a Bitcoin deposit is not, and reviewers have mistaken one for the other.
What Monica does
Monica gives you permanent wallet addresses on six networks, converts anything you send at the live rate with no platform fee, pays Naira into any Nigerian bank within about a minute of on-chain confirmation, and adds bills, airtime, transfers, a virtual dollar card and a catalogue of gift cards you can buy.
Monica pros and cons
Based on its published claims and on recent user reviews.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 0% on conversion and 0% on bank payout, with only the network fee to pay | Does not buy gift cards, so an unused card has to go elsewhere |
| Naira in the bank within about 60 seconds of confirmation | Nigeria only, with no Cedis payout for Ghana |
| Seven coins across six networks, including Solana and Base | Network fees on Bitcoin deposits are a recurring source of fee disputes |
| A virtual USD Visa card, funded from crypto or Naira | Reviewers report frozen virtual cards and occasional login failures |
| Support in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo | Its own figures disagree: ₦500bn processed on the website, ₦400bn in the app listing |

Our verdict
Two different jobs that happen to share a wallet. Pick by what you are converting.
Monica is a specialist and a good one: if all you do is move crypto into a Nigerian bank account, its published 0% fees, sub-minute payouts and coverage of Solana and Base are hard to argue with, and its dollar card is live while Nosh's is not. What it cannot do is buy the gift card in your drawer; its gift card section sells cards to you rather than taking them off you, so an unused Apple or Steam card needs a different app entirely. It also stops at the Nigerian border, with no Cedis for Ghana, and no eSIMs. Nosh is the better home if you trade both cards and coins, if you are in Ghana, or if you want a gift card payout taken in crypto; if crypto-to-Naira is the only thing you do, Monica deserves a serious look.
You don't have to leave Monica to try Nosh. The app is free, you see the live rate for your card before you submit it, and plenty of people keep one app for coins and another for cards.
